CKC/CKBC Coaches Conference

This event is held in conjunction with the Annual Sport Leadership Conference which this year is being hosted in Vancouver.  An outstanding list of speakers has been organized and this provides an excellent opportunity for our local coaches to network with other canoe/kayak coaches from across the country including those leading our National Team Program.  Registration deadline is Monday November 9th for the November 15th and 16th sessions that include a tour of the Olympic Oval and a dinner in Steveston with keynote motivational speaker Frank Dick of Great Britian.

BC coaches will participate in a facilitated competition review to determine the appropriate regattas and outcomes for each of stages in the Long Term Athlete Development Model.  This will be used to establish our regatta schedule for the coming season.

Program planning for 2010 will also be discussed so plan to attend the Awards Dinner for our first presentation to the membership.

CKBC Annual Awards Banquet

Join your fellow CKBC members for an evening of celebration on December 5th at the Golden Eagle Golf Club in Pitt Meadlows.  A buffet dinner will be combined with a silent auction, slide show, celebration of achievements, presentation of 2 scholarship awards and a dance.

Limited tickets are available at $25 each and must be purchased/ordered prior to December 1st. Please order each members ticket online (and separately).

An Olympic souvenier will be awarded to the first 40 ticket purchasers.

CKC AGM

CKC AGM

The CanoeKayak Canada AGM is November 28th, 2009 in Ottawa.  Full member sprint clubs should take the time to review the numberous changes being presented to the members and complete their proxies and forward them to the office ASAP with the wishes of their club documented.  Both MJ as Executive Director and Grant as Flag Officer will be attending.  Don Barrie will be representing our Whitewater members.

Operation Red Nose

Operation Red Nose

Fraser Valley Clubs are invited to form teams and support the Ridge Meadows Operation Red Nose Program that will run over the holiday season.  ORN is a free and confidential designated driver service provided to any person operating a motor vehicle who does not wish to drive his/her  vehicle for any reason.  The service ensures that the driver and his/her vehicle and guests arrive home safely and the success of the campaign is closely tied to volunteer involvement.

Athlete Services Cards

Athlete Services Cards

Canadian Sport Centre Pacific (CSC Pacific), in partnership with the national network of Canadian Sport Centres and BC network of PacificSport Centres, delivers sport performance programs to help athletes and coaches win medals for Canada.  Before you ask if you are eligible or when your card renews think about the goal of this program and your relative performance nationally and internationally.  It takes a long time to make it to the top!

2010 BC Summer Games

Many members are busy planning for this exciting event in the host club of Fort Langley.  Final schedules and coach/assistant coach applications will be posted shortly as will contacts and the selection process for each zone.  Individuals with ELCC training should consider 'adopting' one of our remote zones and mentoring one of their local coaches.  Athletes that are Bantams or Midgets in 2010 are eligible to compete in sprint canoe/kayak, whitewater slalom and outrigger.  Zone teams are made up of 8 athletes with a maximum of 6 of any one sex.
