BLAZING PADDLES

Welcome to the new CKBC electronic newsletter - the revived BLAZING PADDLES. We will circulate to those on our web signup twice a month during our competitive months and monthly in off season months.  We welcome your input......Enjoy!

NEW WEBSITE

Those of you that visit the website will notice a new appearance.  We are moving towards a much more interactive site that allows each of you the opportunity to post messages, photos and athlete bios.  Our EVENTS page allows us to post files with each of the events.  ALL registrations for courses/camps and many competitions will be done online allowing us much better record keeping for our funding partners and easier programming for our staff.  Check back often for the most current information about upcoming events that you may be interested in attending.

PaddleALL - Every Boat; EVERYBODY! - April 18th

Through the generous assistance of CanoeKayak Canada, CKBC members have the opportunity to benefit from hands on training for delivery of the CKC PaddleAll Program taught by Peter McKay (MD.) and Andrea Waters (Recreation Therapist); both from Nova Scotia with a background in sprint canoeing.  The course will be held THIS SATURDAY APRIL 18TH.  Register online under 'EVENTS' today to ensure that we have enough resources (including lunch!)  for all in attendance.

CanoeKayak BC would like to take the opportunity to thank TELUS for their generous donation of $10,000 to be used to purchase equipment for our Provincial PaddleALL programs.

IT'S REGISTRATION TIME

Club registration information has recently been circulated.  We have moved to an online application process for club renewals that allows club information to be saved online.  This will allow for a smooth transition for volunteer succession within the clubs.   Your most current information is available at any time.  As an added bonus you are able to track your equipment inventory and volunteer/goods in kind donations for your direct access grants in a format that meets with their requirements.

Paddler registration/renewals are also now due.  NO paddlers should be participating in ANY events if their fees have not been paid.  If clubs would like to change or add to their list of registrars (those who do the PADTRAC data entry) please contact the office.

TrueSport Club Excel Workshop - April 26th

An opportunity not to be missed for all club administrators, board members and volunteers. Participants will explore best practices, sharing of knowledge from their own experiences in community sport, explore their own organization by assessments and be provided some tools to assist with planning and volunteer management.  Facilitator Tracy Bradley will be joining us from Swimming Canada to deliver the program. Register online under 'EVENTS'.

Enderby Marathon Canoe Clinic and AGM - April 25th & 26th.

CANADA DAY REGATTA

Information is posted on the website about the upcoming Canada Day Regatta in Regina.  Those of you attending the National Team Trials are advised to purchase your ticket to bounce through Regina on the way back from Halifax.  Although athletes will be entered in the event by club; CKBC has again chartered a bus to accommodate the transportation of all and will also facilitate the transportation of boats (thanks to Dave Nosella and Hugh Alley from Burnaby!).  Athletes MUST sign up on the website and make a deposit prior to May 15th.  At that time if there are not sufficient numbers for the bus to be an economical mode of travel we will make alternative arrangements ONLY FOR THOSE THAT HAVE PREREGISTERED.

A male and female manager is needed for this event.  Application deadline is May 15th.

BC SCHOOL DRAGONBOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS - May 31st
