Nicole Haywood Named to World Championships Team
When Nicole Haywood sets a goal she puts it right out there. Nicole was the first of our athletes to post her bio on the website and she made it pretty clear that this year she was going to the World Championships. Well after training in eastern Canada for much of her summer she achieved that goal last weekend at the National Team Trials in Montreal. Watch for her revised bio as she takes on the world in Dartmouth from August 12th - 16th with all her Canada Games team mates there to cheer her on.
Joining her will be Aaron Rublee from Kamloops. Congratulations to both of you and best of luck!

Elliot Hoyt has recently been named the recipient of the ACE Award presented by BC Athlete Voice. The leadership of our more senior athletes is an important building block in the future of our sport. To each of you who have also served as role models to our younger/newer athletes athletes a huge SHOUT OUT of thanks!
BC Games Training Camp - register NOW
Second year peewees, bantams and first year midgets are invited to register for our first of hopefully biannual provincial FUNdamentals/Train to Train camps. This year we will be based in the Fort Campgrounds group site in cabins and hosted by the Fort Langely Canoe Club. With lots of off water activities and the opportunity to paddle in a multitude of different boats (including whitewater) with different team mates this is sure to become an athlete favourite. Online registratiion is a must.....we are ordering participant shirts on Monday so make sure you are included!
Best of luck to our 2009 Canada Summer Games Team as they move into final preparation for the upcoming Games in Prince Edward Island. The team will leave for Halifax on August 9th and cheer for their teammate Nicole as she represents Canada at the Senior World Championships in Dartmouth later in the week.
Nanaimo will play host to this event on August 22nd. Although the event is only scheduled for one day participants are encouraged to spend Saturday night with the group at the social to meet members from other clubs and learn more about our sport. This is a great wind up event for all of our newer Bantam/Novice and Masters members.
